9502 - CHURCH DONATIONS CHILD OFFERING SAVINGS BANK
Name/Title
9502 - "CHURCH DONATIONS" CHILD OFFERING SAVINGS BANKDescription
9502 - "CHURCH DONATIONS" CHILD OFFERING SAVINGS BANK Of interest is this ceramic, young girl's "church donation" bank. This particular bank was produced with a blond figurine and also a brunette figurine. Quite telling is the inscription: "church donations". This phrasing was a departure, even with this seemingly innocent child's bank, from the long-held belief in tithing or generously giving a portion back out of what God has originally provided. This bank exemplified a new thinking in the post-world war II era of giving less than 10%, and "donating" out of what is ours. This was a wrong step in a new viewpoint during this era, away from the age-old belief that God owned it all. When did we ever begin to think or believe that we were ever donating to God's efforts and not fully joining Him with our generous giving?Collection
