Dear Papa,
We are still at St. John but expect to sail at about 4 p.m. today. We embarked yesterday at 11:30 a.m. (Saturday) and were at once assigned to our butler. [?] and I occupy one cabin which is really for 4 people, we have a lounge & lots of room. There is a dresser like affair with doors etc. When you pull one door downward a basin screwed to it lowered to wash in and when you are through washing all you have to do is to push [????] in the dining room and I sit [??]. He told us the ship was chased[???] submarines but that since he has a gun none will come [?] him. We saw the guns , two 6" ones. And look [?] efficient [?] they [?] in plain sight I guess no submarine will m[?]t us.
He [?] to sail about 4 p.m today and to proceed(?) d[?]t to Liverpool expecting to land there about 1 week from today (Sunday)
I am glad I [?] those looks to [??] there [??] much to do on board.
[???] and I went all over the ship today. Yesterday three of us went back to St. John and took some pictures and saw a [?] picture show. St. John is [?] in two [?] the St. John river and the [????????] The [?] has two sheet(?) like places one for men and one for women with a place for horses and [?] in the middle. The [?????] and about as long as trip as to the Island.
