Dear Papa,
I am still on the job and we have not yet received sailing orders, nor is there any sign of them. The lads have left for India so we don't go with them. Had we been able to we would have been a jolly party.
[???] I can't tell you how pleased I was to get that cable of $50. It was magnificent of you. But I am so afraid it se[??] you short. Had the Government done their part I could have scraped along. But I never got the $35. owing some for August, until yesterday the 28th Sept. As we had to buy our own Egyptian kib(?), and get allowed for it if we actually get sailing orders for Egypt, I didn't know what to do.Language
