Dear Papa,
I have [????????] Had a moment to get a letter off to you or Blauche this week as I got sailing orders for Egypt and could not get very much time off from duty to book affairs with usual that I have been extremely busy. I had 2 nights and a day in London but the two nights were taken up in calling on our friends in the city and Richmond to say goodbye.
I am writing this at the waterloo St. Station in London at 11 a.m. our train leaves at 11:55 a.m. I just got your letter of Sept 11th no.10 this morning, also one from Blauche and your parcel which of course I have not had time to open so I don't know which one it is. It will sure come in handy as we have a long railway journey, I believe through France and Italy before seen taking for Egypt. We leave here from South ampton and it is [?????????] [????????] At Briudise in Italy but of course I dont know. If we do it will certainly be a grand interesting thing.
Kirk and I are together and all that [??????] For us to do is to try and coax some officer in Egypt to place us in the same battery or brigade. I think we will be able to do it as we have never been stuck yet. I got a pleasant surprise at the station here I met one of the old company boys who came here to see some officers off. Much to my surprise I find two of my old friends are traveling by same train and no doubt same boat to France. I also heard the news that another company lad is in Mesopotamia, one in India, Les Hese then the old least - major of the [????????] In Italy. Two or three more of my old pals are killed though, [?????????] One of my closest friends Riffle Taylor, the flying mate of Frank Foster who was killed a few weeks ago.
Well Papa it is near train time and there...Transcriber
