Description

Introduced in 1965 alongside the Kodak Instamatic line, the flashcube revolutionized amateur photography by allowing four consecutive flash pictures to be taken without manually changing bulbs. Each cube contains four individual bulbs, each with its own tiny built-in reflector. This specific General Electric version features the "Blue Dot" or "Green Dot" indicator (depending on the specific production run), which acts as a visual safety check to ensure the bulb is unused and the vacuum seal is intact. Unlike the later "Magicube" (Type X), these original flashcubes require a battery—usually housed within the camera—to complete the electrical circuit and fire the bulb. They were produced in massive quantities at GE’s facilities in Ohio and are a hallmark of the 126 and 110 film era.
