WorkhorseDescription
Launched in 1996, the Advanced Photo System (APS) was a major industry attempt to modernize consumer film photography before the digital transition. The film is housed in a drop-in cassette that remains inside the cartridge even after processing. A key feature of this system was the ability to choose between three print formats—Classic, HDTV, and Panoramic—which was recorded on a magnetic coating on the film base. While technically sophisticated, the format was short-lived as digital photography reached the mass market shortly after its release.Category
