StandardDescription
This is a second, slightly more "experienced" example of the Agfa B2 Speedex in your collection. This specific unit features the Commander shutter, which was one of the standard variants for this model. Produced in Binghamton, NY, just before the U.S. entered World War II, these cameras were the "workhorses" of the folding camera world.Technically, this is a "self-erecting" folder—pressing the small silver button on the top plate makes the front door drop and the bellows snap into place. It produces large $6 \times 6$ cm square negatives, offering roughly four times the surface area of a standard 35mm frame. This unit shows significant "brassing" and plating loss on the top plate (revealing the yellowish base metal), which gives it a wonderful, rugged "relic" aesthetic.Category
