ScamerasDescription
The Akira 2000N is a classic example of a "scam" or "promotional" camera, often sold through mail-order catalogs or given away as prizes. While it is designed to look like a high-end 35mm SLR (Single Lens Reflex), it is actually a very simple point-and-shoot. The "lens" is a large plastic housing designed to mimic a professional zoom, but the actual glass is a small, fixed-aperture lens in the center. It features a "hot shoe" for a flash, a manual film advance wheel on the back, and basic "Weather" settings on the lens barrel ($f/6.3$ for cloudy, $f/11$ for sunny). The box features the aspirational slogan "Pictures Worth a Thousand Words," playing into the look of a more expensive camera.Category
