Description

Manufactured in Dresden, Germany, shortly after World War II, the Altix II is a robust, all-metal viewfinder camera. It is a transitional model from the Altix line, notable for its compact, rounded body and the use of the Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan f/2.9 50mm lens. The Trioplan is a famous three-element "Triplet" design known for creating a unique circular "bubble" bokeh when shot wide open. Unlike later Altix models that used a proprietary breech-lock bayonet for interchangeable lenses, the Altix II lens is fixed. The bottom plate is removable for film loading, a design choice similar to the Leica cameras of the same era.
