RelicDescription
The Ansco Readyflash is a classic example of mid-century American snapshot photography. Manufactured in Binghamton, New York, it was designed for extreme simplicity, featuring a fixed-focus lens and a single-speed instantaneous shutter. The "Readyflash" name highlighted its primary selling point: a dedicated top-mounted synchronization bracket for a clip-on flash unit, allowing families to take indoor photos with ease. Its body is constructed from metal with a faux-leather "pebble" grain finish and an integrated carrying handle. Crucially, the camera was designed for 620 film, which produced large $2¼ \times 3¼$ inch negatives. While the 620 format was identical in size to 120 film, it used a much thinner spool; since 620 film is no longer manufactured, this camera remains a nostalgic relic of the "Golden Age" of the American family snapshot.Category
