Description

The Canonet 28 is a simplified, more consumer-friendly version of the famous Canonet G-III QL17. It features a fixed 40mm f/2.8 Canon lens and operates primarily in programmed auto-exposure mode. The camera uses a CdS light meter located just above the lens element, which allows it to compensate for filters attached to the front. While it lacks the high-speed lens of its "big brother," it retains the excellent build quality and bright-frame rangefinder focusing system that made the Canonet series a favorite among street photographers. This specific unit was manufactured in Taiwan, reflecting Canon's shift in production for their consumer-tier cameras during the early 1970s.
