Description

The Kodacolor II 126 cartridge, also known as the Kodapak, was a proprietary film format designed to eliminate the complexities of traditional 35mm film loading. The cartridge features a dual-chamber plastic housing that contains a 35mm-wide film strip with a paper backing, providing 24 square exposures of 28x28mm. Operationally, the cartridge is asymmetrical to ensure it can only be inserted into a camera in the correct orientation, with a central window that allows the user to track frame numbers printed on the backing paper. This specific specimen utilizes the C-41 color process and represents the peak of consumer film convenience during the late 20th century. Although the 126 format was globally discontinued in 1999, these cartridges remain essential historical records of the era's push toward foolproof, drop-in photographic standards.
