Description

The Brownie Bullet is a streamlined, molded Bakelite camera that represents the mid-century evolution of the classic Brownie box camera. Design-wise, it is a simplified version of the Brownie Holiday, featuring a distinctive gold-toned metal faceplate and a prominent white winding knob. It was primarily marketed as a "premium" camera—often given away for free or at a deep discount as part of promotional tie-ins with other consumer products. The camera is exceedingly simple to operate, featuring a fixed-focus Dakon lens and a single-speed shutter. It utilized 127 roll film, which sat between 35mm and 120 in size, producing eight $1\frac{5}{8} \times 2\frac{1}{2}$ inch exposures per roll. While basic, its rugged construction and Art Deco-influenced "speed lines" on the body make it a quintessential piece of Americana and a favorite among collectors of mid-century industrial design.
