Description

The Instamatic 800 was the "flagship" of the original 126 cartridge line, representing the most high-end consumer technology Kodak offered in the mid-1960s. Unlike the cheaper plastic models, the 800 features a coupled rangefinder for precise focusing and a spring-driven automatic film advance—allowing you to take rapid-fire shots without manually winding. It also boasts a fast f/2.8 Ektanar lens and a selenium-cell "electric eye" for automatic exposure control. A distinctive design element is the gold trim used on the shutter dial and Kodak emblem, which distinguished it from the silver-trimmed 700 series. While 126 film is now obsolete, this camera remains a favorite for collectors due to its heavy metal construction and surprisingly sophisticated features.
