Description

This is a rare and highly significant piece of Kodak retail history. The high-quality sepia-toned photograph features a young man in a fedora demonstrating the portability of the Vest Pocket Kodak (VPK), which was marketed as "The Soldier's Camera" during WWI. The slogan at the bottom, "Put a Kodak in your pocket," was a major campaign intended to shift photography from a bulky, tripod-based activity to a candid, everyday experience. Most importantly, the back of the frame retains its original Notice Label, which states: "This advertising matter is the property of Eastman Kodak Company, and is loaned upon the sole condition that it will be returned upon demand." This proves it was never sold to the public but was instead a "loaner" display piece provided only to authorized Kodak dealers in the early 1900s. Its survival in such a complete, framed state makes it a top-tier museum-grade artifact.
