Description

The Kodak Signet 35 is a rugged, American-made rangefinder characterized by its distinctive "streamlined" cast aluminum body and oversized scalloped control knobs. It features a sophisticated coincident-image rangefinder coupled with a high-quality four-element Tessar-type Ektar lens, which was often touted as one of the sharpest optics available for consumer cameras of its era. Operation is strictly manual, requiring the user to cock the Synchro 300 shutter via a lever on the lens barrel before each exposure, while the back plate provides a sliding calculator for exposure settings based on lighting conditions and film speed. Despite its somewhat industrial, utilitarian aesthetics, the Signet 35 remains a functional favorite for collectors due to its mechanical simplicity and its continued compatibility with standard modern 35mm film cassettes.
