Description

The Kodak Star 435 is a utilitarian, plastic-chassis 35mm camera designed for extreme ease of use in the casual consumer market. It features a fixed-focus Ektanar lens and a manual thumbwheel film advance, deliberately eschewing complex electronics to maintain a lightweight and affordable form factor. A distinctive flip-up flash housing serves as the primary physical interface; raising the flash enables the internal flash circuitry and uncovers the viewfinder and lens, while lowering it protects the optics and locks the shutter. The camera includes a basic ISO selector switch (100/200 and 400) to adjust for different film speeds, though its shutter speed and aperture remain largely fixed. As a representative of the late-era analog "snapshot" culture, the Star 435 remains a popular entry point for modern beginners due to its mechanical simplicity and continued compatibility with standard 135 film.
