The Kodaslide Table Viewer 4X is a masterpiece of mid-century industrial design. Constructed from beautiful, dark mahogany-colored Bakelite, it features striking gold-painted "speed lines" and a small brass Kodak emblem that scream Art Deco influence. This device allowed families to view their 35mm color slides (Kodachrome) without having to set up a full projector and screen. It uses a unique rear-projection system to enlarge the slide image four times (4X) onto its integrated glass "Daylight" screen. The bottom plate (Image DSC_0000-1535) features the original technical stampings, including the instructions to "Press Plate to Replace Lamp," which is a 50-watt bulb housed within a ventilated chamber to prevent the Bakelite from overheating.
