Description

The Leicaflex SL was Leica's second foray into the SLR market and is widely regarded as one of the most over-engineered and mechanically precise cameras ever made. Known for its incredibly bright viewfinder and silky-smooth film advance, the SL introduced "Selective Light" metering—a center-weighted TTL (Through-The-Lens) system. Unlike many of its contemporaries, the Leicaflex SL was built to the same exacting standards as the Leica M rangefinders, featuring a massive shutter speed dial that can be adjusted while looking through the finder. The included 50mm Summicron-R lens is legendary for its optical performance. While heavy and lacking the modern conveniences of later SLRs, the Leicaflex SL remains a pinnacle of German mechanical craftsmanship.
