Description

The Minolta Auto 25 is a classic, compact electronic flash unit from the 1970s, designed primarily for Minolta's line of Hi-Matic rangefinders and early SLR cameras. It features an integrated CdS sensor (the "Electric Eye") on the front, which allows for "Auto" exposure. In this mode, the flash measures the light reflecting back from the subject and automatically cuts the flash duration once the correct exposure is achieved. The back of the unit features a comprehensive calculator dial to help photographers determine the correct f-stop based on their film's ASA (ISO) and the distance to the subject. For example, using ASA 100 film for a subject 10 feet away, the dial indicates an aperture of f/8. It is powered by two standard AA batteries and includes a red test button and ready light to signal when the capacitor is fully charged.
