Description

The Hi-Matic 7s was an evolution of the Hi-Matic 7, adding a hot shoe for flash and Minolta's Contrast Light Compensator (CLC) metering system. This system used two CdS cells to better handle high-contrast scenes, such as bright skies above a dark landscape. It features a high-quality fixed Rokkor 45mm $f/1.8$ lens. The Hi-Matic series gained significant fame when a customized earlier version, the Hi-Matic 7, was taken into orbit by John Glenn on Friendship 7 in 1962, though the 7s was a later consumer improvement on that lineage.
