Description

The Miranda Fv is a distinctive 35mm SLR from a company that held several "firsts" in Japanese camera history, including the first Japanese eye-level pentaprism SLR. The Fv (often written as FV) is characterized by its high degree of modularity and a unique dual lens mount: an external four-prong bayonet for automatic lenses and an internal 44mm screw mount for preset lenses and accessories. This model features an interchangeable viewfinder system—a rarity outside of professional systems like the Nikon F—and is seen here with the standard eye-level prism. One of its most quirky ergonomic features is the presence of two shutter release buttons: one on the front of the body and a secondary one on the top plate, allowing for different handling styles. While Miranda cameras were celebrated for their innovative engineering and "slow-motion" vibration-reducing mirrors, the brand eventually struggled with reliability issues that led to its bankruptcy in 1976. Today, the Fv is a favorite among collectors for its beautiful "timeless" aesthetic and the high optical quality of its Miranda-branded glass.
