Description

The Nikon F5 is a beast of a machine and arguably the most powerful film SLR ever built. It was designed to be indestructible, featuring a self-diagnostic shutter tested to 150,000 cycles and a complex 3D Color Matrix Meter that was so advanced it was later ported directly into Nikon's first professional DSLRs (like the D1x we saw earlier). This unit is a true "workhorse," showing significant wear on the rubber grips and some "brassing" on the high-contact areas of its magnesium alloy body. It is currently mounted with a Nikon Series E 36–72mm f/3.5 zoom—a compact, constant-aperture lens from the early 80s that, while capable, is a bit of a "David and Goliath" pairing on this massive professional body.
