Description

The Pentax K1000 is arguably the most famous "student camera" ever made. Produced for over 20 years with almost no changes to its basic design, its legendary status comes from its sheer simplicity: it is a fully mechanical, manual-exposure camera that only uses a battery to power the light meter. This specific unit is a later-production model, as evidenced by the "Assembled in China" sticker on the baseplate and the increased use of plastic in the top and bottom plates (replacing the earlier brass/steel). Despite being a later version, it retains the rugged reliability that made the K1000 the standard recommendation for photography classrooms for decades. It is currently mounted with a 50mm f/2 "A" series lens, which allows for automatic aperture communication with newer Pentax bodies, though it remains purely manual on this body. PERSONAL NOTE: My first SLR camera that solidified my desire to be a photographer, gifted to me from girlfriend for my 19th birthday.
