Description

The Pentax SF1n was an evolutionary refinement of the original SF1, which held the distinction of being the world's first AF SLR with a built-in TTL flash. The "n" model improved upon its predecessor with a faster autofocus motor, an expanded shutter speed range topping out at 1/4000s, and a more intuitive interface featuring a large top-plate LCD panel. This specimen is paired with a Takumar-F 28-80mm zoom, a budget-friendly autofocus optic that utilizes the Pentax KAF mount. Architecturally, the camera is notable for its "slanted" pentaprism housing, which integrates the pop-up flash off-center to reduce red-eye and accommodate the autofocus sensors. As a robust example of late-1980s automated photography, the SF1n remains a reliable and highly compatible tool for contemporary 35mm film enthusiasts.
