WorkhorseDescription
A vintage promotional transistor radio manufactured to resemble the iconic Polaroid 600 series instant camera. Released in the late 1980s to advertise the "600 Plus" film line, this unit features a full AM/FM tuner with a side-mounted tuning dial and volume control. The "lens" of the camera serves as the radio's tuning window, and the "flash" housing contains the speaker. A unique design feature of this radio is its dual-power capability: it can run on four standard AA batteries or, in a clever nod to its inspiration, it can be powered by sliding in a used Polaroid 600 film cartridge to utilize the remaining life in the cartridge’s built-in flat battery. While it possesses the form factor, folding mechanism, and aesthetics of a genuine 600-series camera, it lacks any photographic components. It remains a popular "cross-over" collectible for both vintage radio enthusiasts and Polaroid camera fans.Made/Created
