RelicDescription
The Six-16 Brownie Special is a stylized, metal-bodied box camera that represents the Art Deco influence on Kodak's consumer lineup in the late 1930s. Diverging from the traditional "box" shape, it features a tapered, trapezoidal profile and a distinctive curved front plate. Technically, the camera is a simple "snapshot" tool, featuring a fixed-focus lens with two focus settings (6 to 15 feet and Beyond 15 feet) adjusted via a small lever, and a rotary shutter with "Instant" and "Time" modes. It was designed to use 616 roll film, producing large 2½ \times 4¼ inch negatives. While its rugged build has allowed many specimens to survive, the 616 film format was discontinued in 1984, meaning this camera is now primarily a decorative historical artifact unless a photographer utilizes specialized adapters to host modern 120 film.Category
