Description

A classic mid-century telephoto lens characterized by its "preset" aperture mechanism and heavy-duty, all-metal construction. This lens was designed before the era of automatic diaphragms, requiring the photographer to manually stop down the lens to the chosen aperture before taking the picture. It typically features a 10-blade aperture diaphragm, which creates very smooth, circular "bokeh" in out-of-focus areas, making it a favorite for portrait and nature photography. Most versions utilize a 57mm or 58mm filter thread and were sold with a versatile T-mount or M42 screw mount, allowing them to be used on a vast array of camera systems with the appropriate adapter. Historically, the 180mm f/3.5 was one of Soligor's more respected telephoto offerings, praised for its solid build quality and respectable sharpness when stopped down slightly.
