Description

The Underground 660-T is a typical "store brand" or third-party electronic flash from the 1980s. The "T" likely stands for Thyristor, and the "Computerized" label refers to its automatic exposure capabilities. Like many of the flashes we've cataloged, it uses a front-facing sensor to measure light reflected from the subject and shuts off the flash burst once correct exposure is achieved. Technically, it features a 90° tilting bounce head to soften harsh lighting. On the back, it has a sliding calculator to determine the correct f-stop based on your film's ASA (ISO). It includes three colored auto modes (likely Green and Red) and a Manual mode. A unique design choice is the "CHECK" button alongside the standard "READY" lamp, allowing you to test the battery and capacitor charge before shooting. This flash is essentially a generic version of the Vivitar 2000 or Sunpak Auto 321 already in your collection. While not a high-end professional tool, it is a reliable workhorse for vintage film photography. It connects via a standard hot shoe and has a PC sync port on the side for cameras without a "live" shoe.
