This is a massive, high-wattage projection lamp designed for 16mm or 35mm cinema projectors. The "DFD" code is the ANSI standard for this specific bulb type. Its most striking feature is the opaque blue ceramic top, which was a Westinghouse hallmark designed to reduce stray light from leaking out of the projector's cooling vents and to help dissipate heat. Inside, you can see the complex C13D filament structure, engineered to provide an incredibly bright, concentrated light source. Because these bulbs run at a scorching 1000 watts, they were notorious for "blackening" the glass over time; this unit appears to be "New Old Stock" (NOS) based on the clear glass and original packaging.
