Welcome to the Union Club Art Collection Founded in 1879, the Union Club of British Columbia is a landmark institution in the heart of downtown Victoria on Vancouver Island. The Art Collection, dating from 1885, reflects the changing interests of the Club, its members and indeed the growth of the city and the province. Come discover the many themes and traditions represented by the artists and their work – love of the land, nation building, coastal connections, Northwest coast story-telling, plein-air painting, artists as educators, and links to different art movements from Pictorialism to our home-grown Canadian Group of Seven. Enjoy your exploration. In 2017, the Union Club was declared a National Historic Site by the Government of Canada for its important early history and outstanding architecture.
