Description

This appliquéd and pieced quilt used the Tulip pattern, also known as the North Carolina Lily. It is 89" x 82" and made with cotton fabrics. Thirty six appliquéd/pieced blocks are set in like-sized blocks. In a central block is embroidered in satin stitch "EJC/MADE IN/VA/1847". The colors of the appliquéd blocks are of Turkey red prints, green prints, and a gold print that might have one time been green. Background and backing are of muslin. Quilting consists of diagonal double lines with single lines on tulip blocks. The back is brought to the front as the edging.
