appliqué kit quilt of pink and yellow roses

Context

Made by Mary Betty Rodes of Portmouth, Virginia. Betty attended the State Teachers College (now James Madison University) in Harrisonburg, Virginia before getting graduate degrees at both the College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia. This quilt was done by Betty in her retirement. It was from a Bucilla Kit (#49594). After doing the hand appliqué on the top, Betty sent the quilt to be quilted by professional Mennonite quilters.
