This quilt was made by 56 people from three different guilds from Virginia and Maryland as a gift to Mary Sue Hannan for her 70th birthday. The quilt was fashioned after a quilt found in New Discoveries in American Quilts by Robert Bishops (page 84). It was also on the cover of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine, issue 212. This quilt design was originally made by Sarah Holcomb from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was dated March 9th, 1847.
Over half the blocks are signed by the makers in pen. Some contain sentiments as well.Collection
