Description

Silk Log Cabin pattern youth quilt. Pattern is a variation of a log cabin pattern, which has been done in a diamond style. Likely made out of old/recycled fabric, some new/scrap, and new/purchased fabric. There is a mix of solids, stripes, and prints. The log cabin blocks were made in a diamond shape starting with the center black diamond patch. Blocks were arranged so colors run lengthwise of the quilt. There is a single border. It is an embroidered green synthetic fabric about 1 1/2'' wide. The border is a new addition, likely added later. There is embroidery (feather pattern) in various colors of twisted thread surround each log cabin block. There is also embroidery in a "tick-tac-toe" design down the center of the border. At intersections of the blocks and in the center on the front of the quilt are multicolored ties. The ties are a mix of different thread. The Log Cabin blocks were constructed on sheer fabric and a reinforcement strip covers the seams on the back before the backing was added. The backing is a synthetic green and was likely added later as conservation.
