Description

Hand pieced and hand quilted. 20 blocks of pieced diamonds in eight-point star design in the center with 6-diamond partial stars at each corner of block. White background. Each block is framed by pink sashing, 5.25" wide. Smaller blocks where sashing intersects feature madder prints. The outer border has a 4" wide pink zig-zag on white with a narrow matching pink strip on each side.

Context

The maker of this quilt is unknown, but it is believed to have been made by the aunt or cousin of the donor in Rockingham County circa 1870's. It has been in the donors family, the Liskey's, for two generations and is a family heirloom
