Constructed using muslin and rust-colored prints popular in the era, this top has an inked name and date in the lower right-hand corner. Pieced blocks are set with alternate plain blocks; a triple border frames the top.
28 Turkey Tracks blocks make up this quilt top. They have been set with alternating plain blocks. A border of 3 strips of fabric surrounds the quilt blocks.Context
In the lower right corner, it is inked "Lydia Ann Humberston, Feb. 18, 1870." This quilt is believed to have been made in the Shenandoah Valley, and is especially appropriate for the Virginia Quilt Museum's collection - the neighboring county of Rockingham is known as the Turkey Capital of the World.Collection
