Context

Star of Bethlehem Revisited is a testament to family and friends. The maker was encouraged by her friend, Ellen Swanson, to replicate a pattern that she had a fondness for. Mrs. Carter settled on the Star of Bethlehem quilts from the early 19th century. Dedicated to the father of Hazel Carter, and to Ellen Swanson, both of whom had passed away during the piecing of the top. This quilt was exhibited at the AQSG seminar in Williamsburg, VA in 2001, and at the Quilters Hall of Fame in 2009. This quilt was published in the "Quilters Hall of Fame; 42 Quilters who have Shaped Our Art." and in the Tea in Texas Magazine for September/October 2011.
