Description

Log Cabin signature quilt with streak of lightning design (zig-zag pattern). There are no borders on the quilt. Each block is signed in ink with a name and date. Backing is pieced blocks in a potholder style. There is no batting. The binding is 1/4'' wide, bringing the back to the front and mitered corners.

Context

Believed to have been made in Bath County, Virginia, by a member of the Burns family (of Burnsville, Virginia). Given to Sylvia Burns Sanger, who gave it to her daughter-in-law, Hannah Ryland Sanger, who then gave it to her niece, Catharine R. Moser, the donor.
