Description

Tied quilt, with knots on the front, made out of pink and green yarn. Composed of 8 strips wide and 25 long, with 9 rows of signatures. Each strip is about 9'' wide. Likely made out of old/recycled fabric. There is a mix of mixed, solids, stripes, prints, plaids, and checks. The lining, or backing, of the quilt is composed of 3 vertical strips that measure, 34 1/2'', 34 1/2'', and 5 1/2''. It is a solid pale green cotton fabric. The binding is brought back to front and is about 1/2'' wide with squared corners. No batting included.

Context

This quilt was found at a Goodwill and given to the Montgomery Museum in Christiansburg before it was gifted to the Virginia Quilt Museum. The genealogy reveals that the quilt was likely from Bedford, Virginia. Notable names include Powell and May.
