Context

Linda Fiedler made this quilt in Meadows of Dan, Virginia in 1994 - it took her two years to complete. It is a depiction of an underwater ocean scene. The maker said that she hoped to combine the techniques of embroidery and quilting to create something better than either technique alone. This quilt is heavily awarded: it won five best in show ribbons and first awards in an Innovative Pieced category from the International Quilt Show in Houston and the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival in Hampton. It has also been shown in Quilters Newsletter and the American Quilter.
