12 Christmas blocks are set side by side into a 3 x 4 configuration with tan sashing. Each of the 14 inch blocks are bordered with a 1/4 inch green frame. The blocks each feature one of the day of Christmas that have been expertly appliqued. The blocks are surrounded by a 6 inch tan border with applique corners that is followed by a 5 inch solid brown border. Machine pieced, hand appliqued, hand embroidered. Long arm custom quilted by Kathy Gray. Quilted to piece around each applique shape with background fill or meandering feathers. The borders are quilted with two different feathers. The edge is finished with a 1/4 inch binding of a pear print cotton.Context
Emily Martin, the maker, was inspired to create her own version of The Twelve Days of Christmas when she viewed a similarly themed piece at the Quilter's Unlimited Show. This quilt features maker's original design. The maker is an award winning quilter who does not have a record of sales for similar pieces.Collection
