This Dresden Plate quilt was made using cotton fabric and used cotton for the batting as well. It is 75 1/2" x 77". This quilt is comprised of 16 blocks in the Dresden plate pattern. Each block measures 16 1/2" square and consists of the pieced plate in colors of red, gold, blue, purple, and green appliquéd on a white background. The corner of each block features one red leaf shape appliquéd. The resulting secondary pattern when the four leaves come together is a petal effect or the suggestion of a background trellis.
There are two borders on the quilt. The first is a 2" red the same as the leaves and the second is a 2 3/8" yellow/green floral print. A red calico print is used on the back and is brought to the front to form the binding.Context
