Description

A center medallion style quilt featuring an original design of male and female dancers around a hex sign. The interior border is hand-worked in applique vines that depict the seasons with birds, flowers, and bugs. The outer border is composed of 32 completed miniature quilts in various sizes (one of which acted as a signature quilt). Edge finish is straight double fold, machine front and hand back. Hand pieced, appliqued, embroidered, and quilted. Quilted in diamonds and diagonal lines.

Context

Susan Hinkel designed this quilt, preparing kits and supervising its construction. Members of the Piedmont Quilters Guild of Warrenton, Virginia participated in making the quilt. It took over 14 years. It was hand quilted by Margie Hockman.
