Orange Peel Quilt

Orange Peel

Description

This quilt uses the orange peel pattern. Rumor has it that this pattern is based off of an 1825 visit to America by Frenchman Lafayette. He was seen peeling an orange in an aristocratic manner and a lady made this design based off of that. In another color, the design is referred to as "Robbing Peter to pay Paul". It is made out of cotton and is "double-quilted" 7.5'' blocks of the design, Orange Peel. Used several prints in a yellow/green with off-white. The border is done in flying geese and is 7'' wide.
