Well-loved quilt with green outer border. Many fabrics were used in the creation of blocks.

Context

This quilt was made by Elizabeth Touzard Shelton. Her parents immigrated from Montfarville, Marsche, France. At the age of 20, Elizabeth married Thomas Shelton. The two had a least one son, Edward Walton Shelton, who owned a dry goods store in operation during the Civil War. It is likely that Elizabeth purchased her fabric at this store.
