Description

36 blocks of star design on alternating pink or yellow ground. Blocks framed with teal sashing on all sides. Star centers are octagons with with triangles on each side.

Context

The context of this quilt is up in the air. Notes attached to the quilt say it was made by Mary Wynn Epps Folkes who lived in Bermuda Hundred, Virginia. However, the style, technique, and colors used point more to it being made in the 1850's which doesn't quite match up with Mary Wynn Epps Folkes history. It was donated to the museum by the great-great-great granddaughter of the maker.
