Description

This comforter was machine pieced and hand pieced, as well as knotted. It depicts George Washington and Benjamin Harrison. Fabrics mostly from furnishing fabric. Back-to-front binding. Backing looks to be drapes.

Context

It was believed that this piece was created in celebration of the Centennial of Washington taking office (1789) when Harrison was president (1889-1893). Harrison was the 23rd president. The quilt also shows two American flags, one from 1789 and one from 1889.
