This comforter was machine pieced and hand pieced, as well as knotted. It depicts George Washington and Benjamin Harrison. Fabrics mostly from furnishing fabric. Back-to-front binding. Backing looks to be drapes.Context
It was believed that this piece was created in celebration of the Centennial of Washington taking office (1789) when Harrison was president (1889-1893). Harrison was the 23rd president. The quilt also shows two American flags, one from 1789 and one from 1889.Collection
