Aunt Etta's Nine of Diamonds

Name/Title

Aunt Etta's Nine of Diamonds

Entry/Object ID

2012.001.001

Description

Hand pieced and hand quilted with many fabric prints.

Context

Henrietta Lou Jarman made this quilt when she was nine years old. She learned, under the supervision of her older sister Amanda Clotilda Jarman, to make even stitches and sew the straight seams that make this quilt. The family history states that many tears were shed and many stitches had to be pulled before the quilt passed inspection. The quilt contains several nine patches, and the large triangles are quilted in a diamond design.
