Nine blocks of cotton fabrics hand appliquéd on white background. Green sashing. Quatrefoil design of green print leaves with red plain-dyed berries and yellow print.

Context

This quilt was made around 1859 by Sarah Frances Hamrick Hoshour, who was the wife of Peter Hosher and mother of Ida Elizabeth Hoshour Brown. This quilt was passed down through the family before being purchased at an estate auction in 1973 by another family member.
